American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM)
The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is the professional association that represents certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and certified midwives (CMs) in the United States. ACNM sets the standard for excellence in midwifery education and practice in the United States and strengthens the capacity of midwives in developing countries. Our members are primary care providers for women throughout the lifespan, with a special emphasis on pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecologic and reproductive health. In 2012, an article titled Breastfeeding and Birth Control was published in the Journal of Midwifery & Women’s Health where the authors discuss different methods of using birth control while breastfeeding.
The American College of Nurse-Midwives’ Breastfeeding Taskforce allow’s its members to assist with breastfeeding-specific projects for the organization. At the 2018 ACNM Conference, LiquidGoldConcept presented a poster on our work integrating breastfeeding education into the University of Michigan School of Nursing’s midwifery curriculum.
